Life Management (LM)

Many students look forward to leaving home once they enter the working world.  They want a change of pace and the new challenges that living away from home offers.  Choosing to live away from home is a big decision, one that requires forethought and preparation

As students start planning for the world of work, the Life Management program helps to ease the way for students as they reach new life milestones. This class offers a variety of
school-to-work transition issues in a student-centered environment and examines real-life challenges in detail.

     Students enrolled in the Life Management program will focus on skills needed to transition into an independent living environment.  Through community-based activities, content-related field trips and guest speakers.


Students will identify, discuss, and practice:

       Employability skills

       Transportation choices

       Personal finance and taxes

       Insurance options

       Career exploration and options

       Math and writing skills

       Personal rights and citizenship





After completing this course students will be able to:

Use a variety of resources to locate potential job opportunities

Complete a resume’

Confidently complete the job interview process

Understand the need for sound personal money management

Prepare a personal budget to achieve both short and long-range goals

Maintain a personal checking account

Understand the responsibility of and the need to maintain a savings account
