Career & Technical Education Programs
MVTC is organized around the Career Clusters concept to help prepare students to meet the demands of postsecondary education and the expectations of future employers.
A Career Cluster is a grouping of occupations and broad industries based on commonalities.
There are sixteen career clusters that provide an organizing tool for schools, small learning communities, academies and magnet schools.
MVTC currently offers Eight career technical-related vocational programs that include:
· Life Management (Currently Not Offered)
(Currently Not Offered)
While attending MVTC, students are enrolled in each core vocational program for one semester. Career technical-related curriculum is reinforced with hands-on activities and work-related experiences. It is the intention of our school to provide students with ample opportunities to identify and refine basic employability skills and work ethics.
School-wide lessons and activities in the areas of character, work ethics, business-writing and math help students prepare for their transition into the world of work. Community-based activities are incorporated within vocational curriculums to the greatest extent possible. Students may have the opportunity to participate in off-campus job contracts, core-related field trips, and learn from individuals working in our community through guest lectures and presentations.
Involvement in these activities enhances students’ career development and their level of awareness as it relates to employment opportunities. In order to accomplish this, our instructional staff makes every effort to customize our vocational curriculums to meet the needs of all our students. As a result, we believe that our students are better prepared to successfully transition from school to a work environment after participating in our CTE programs.
